GRC is launching a new after school program in February of 2014 that will focus on mentorship, leadership, and music as a platform for social change. Students will learn an instrument, form a band of their own with other students, engage in dynamic workshops focused on basic social justice principles, and perform their own original music at a real venue in town. No musical experience is required and all instruments and materials for the program will be provided. The program is open to girls and transgender youth ages 13-17. It will be hosted at Burke Middle High School in the Rhett Building. This program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00-6:30 pm, from February 4th-May 1st, with a final showcase on Saturday May 3rd.

Junior Counselor Program

This year we are launching our junior counselor program for high school aged girls and transgender youth. The goal of this program is to encourage young rockers to take on leadership roles.  We will provide opportunities for junior counselors to develop new skills and take on new challenges. Junior counselor responsibilities may include co-teaching instrument classes or workshops, setting up gear, helping to lead assemblies and more!  Responsibilities will be assigned based on the experiences and interests of the junior counselors.

Junior counselors will attend the full week of camp from Monday, July 14th to Friday July 18th from 9am to 5pm and perform at the showcase on Saturday, July 19th.

It is not required that junior counselors have music experience or have attended camp before. We do encourage rock camp alumni to apply!
