Please join us for our Girls Rock Charleston’s first ever Political Education/Skillshare Weekend. It will take place May 30 and 31 at College of Charleston’s Addlestone Library (205 Calhoun Street).
The goal for the weekend is two-fold: first, we want to make space for leaders and shakers in the Charleston area to discuss the work they do to uplift young people in our communities (particularly girls, youth of color, LGBTQ youth, youth with disabilities, and/or low-income youth) and to provide an opportunity for those organizations and individuals to build out their work, together. This goal also includes providing space for discussions about the internal workings of organizations in Charleston and potential problems we all face, such as space, funding, and resourcing.
Second, we want to facilitate much-needed political education for new organizers in Charleston. We hope to work together with other organizations during this skillshare weekend to provide the valuable feminist and anti-racist political education that is needed to develop strong social justice leaders in Charleston.
Who can attend? Organizers, folks from non-profits, volunteers for Girls Rock Charleston, teens, college students. If you have more questions about attending, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
